Savannah Real Estate Information

Savannah, Georgia: Savannah is known for its rich history and triving tourist industry. It is often referred to as the Hostess City of the South. This friendly attitude is seen in its landmarks like the The Waving Girl Statue. The Waving Girl Statue honors Florence Margaret Martus. Martus was famous in the early 1900s for waving to all shipping traffic sailing into and out of Savannah. Savannah offers architectural splendor for its residents, natural beauty and old-fashioned Southern charm. Spanish moss grows from hanging branches of trees in Historic Savannah, Georgia and throughout the southeastern United States. Founded by British General James Oglethorpe who landed on the historic bluff above the Savannah River in 1733. In 1966, Savannah's Historic District was designated a National Historic Landmark by the US Interior Department. Today, Savannah is revitized with the popularity of the book and film "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" which brought renovation and restoration to the city. Today, the entire historic district has been restored to its former glory. The Victorian District, Thomas Square, the Martin Luther King, Jr. corridor and other area neighborhoods continue to undergo substantial renovation.
